  • Very low leakage inductance

  • Excellent repeatability of performance

  • Excellent and very high mechanical integrity

  • Efficient and very easy mechanical assembly of transformers and inductors that translate to a very low cost to customers

  • Optional retrofit of any existing transformer or inductor planar or conventional

  • Very high power and current density

  • No gluing of two separate cores to achieve high power and current density

  • High current density is achieved by a new process that reduces
    winding area resistance

  • Superior thermal characteristics

  • Very high efficiency

  • Very high reliability

  • Very low profile

  • Vertical mounting that saves space

  • Very high power density

  • Very high mass/volume efficiency

  • Very high power efficiency

  • Easy to assemble unto a substrate without the need for additional mounting component

  • All Mina planar transformers are provided with mounting pins/studs that provide easy mounting unto a substrate

Mina planar transformers are shielded hence radiated EMI is drastically minimized. Mina utilizes a process in the synthesis and fabrication of planar magnetic that is either lower or comparable in cost to conventional wound transformers and inductors but definitely lower than any competitor's planar magnetic.

Construction Design

Planar transformer design unlike conventional wire wound transformer design begins with overall desired size, total output power, and the operational frequency drive, turn ratio,  primary and secondary winding temperature rise and resistance.

Transformers

All planar transformers including: - fly back converter (either single ended, double ended or active clamp) topology, converter (either single ended, double ended or active clamp) topology (soft or hard switch), push pull converter topology (soft or hard switch), half-bridge converter topology (soft or hard switch), full bridge converter topology (soft or hard switch), gate drive transformer , pulse transformers and current sense transformer are developed and designed  with minimal leakage inductance and excellent coupling between primary and secondary side. Further where needed Flux strap is added to minimize radiated EMI. Using flat conductors as against round conductors also reduces EMI.

Transformers-Gate and Pulse

Gate drive transformer and pulse transformer are also designed and constructed as the power planar transformers, they transmit signal across the isolation boundary without attenuating the voltage, current, duty cycle or frequency of either high side or low side. The gate drive transformers and pulse transformer are extremely rugged, extremely reliable and very easy to integrate into any circuit compared to any integrated circuit gate driver or gate and pulse transformers. Further, due to the gate and pulse transformers extremely low leakage inductance (less than 0.5 µH) no snubbing is required.  It never fails under normal operating conditions as is the case with integrated circuit gate driver or other gate and pulse transformers.

Transformers-Current Sense

Current sense transformers are also designed and constructed as the power planar transformer and they all accurately measure and transmit the primary current.

Inductors-PFC, Common Mode Choke, and Differential Mode Choke

Planar inductors – Power Factor Correction (PFC) and power supply output filter inductors are designed and constructed as the power planar transformer.
